Descanso Gardens Lights Up the Night
Holiday show illuminates botanical collection

La Canada Flintridge’s Descanso Gardens has transformed their botanical collection into an illuminated winter wonderland.

“Enchanted: Forest of Light,” is in its second year and includes 10 displays throughout the Oak Woodland, Camellia Forest, Japanese Garden and Rose Garden.

The holiday inspired one-mile trail takes visitors through the Gardens to enjoy a variety of interactive large scale light displays. Our favorite was the rainbow colored “Flower Power,” displaying a wide range of changing and dancing illuminated tulip lights.

The unique lighting designs were created by Lightswitch. New to this year’s display is Jen Lewis’ “Aqueous,” an interactive landscape of meandering pathways of light.

Throughout the exhibits are stands to purchase hot cocoa, adult beverages and snacks. There is also a gift shop offering a variety of ornaments, cards and other holiday items. “Enchanted: Forest of Light” runs from 5:30 to 10 p.m. until January 9, 2018. The exhibit is closed Christmas Eve and Christmas night. Tickets are $28 to $30, available at www.descansogardens.org.
