Book Release: Towers Between, Art and poems by Brian Meyer, a Lemon Grove watercolor artist .
Watercolor Artist and Poet Brian Meyer, a Lemon Grove resident has published his first book. Available on CreateSpace and Amazon for 19.95, the full color book has 96 pages full of poems and watercolor paintings.
Written on the subjects of peace and religion, this book explores my relationship as a painter with art and the world.
As a plein air painter, Brian paints local scenes and events such as the Fall Festival at St. John of the Cross. Painted at night this was done using a special lighted pochade box which enables capturing the experience directly instead of relying upon photos.

Much of it has been my reaction to so much violence, in Paris, in Chicago, in Nigeria and so many other places. I’ve been thinking about words and myths, how we are cursed to speak but not understand just like the Tower of Babel story. We make so many things into towers to celebrate our ego.It was not God who named things in the garden, it was us, these are our very own mortal words.
Included is the piece 79th Street Matters, recently covered by the Sun Times which memorializes so many who died in Chicago in 2015, listing the names of all those who died on top of a scene showing St. Sabina Church and Father Pfleger leading a protest against violence.
