A man was fatally struck when he apparently walked in front of an SUV on state Route 94 in Lemon Grove, authorities said.
A total of 836 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, police said.
The man ended up falling over the wall on the overpass, plummeting roughly 50 feet to his death, authorities said.
