A Little League team was wowing Lemon Grove in 1963, while another in Mount Helix fell in local sectional championships.
According to U-T San Diego, “Ron Real homered to lead Lemon Grove to a 2-0 win over Escondido National in a sectional Little League game at Escondido” on Aug. 1, 50 years ago.
Meanwhile, the same day, Mount Helix View lost in a second-round Colt League game to Peninsula, a game in which Peninsula's pitcher Mike Adamson was a standout in a 4-0 win that took place in Ocean Beach.
So Senior League U.S. champs – take heart. There's a good chance your victories will be remembered in 2062!
