Learn how small lifestyle changes can have a big impact on the aging brain during an educational program led by Dr. Len Lecci at Mount Miguel Covenant Village, a faith-based, not-for-profit continuing care retirement community located at 325 Kempton St., Spring Valley. “Maximizing Brain Health” is scheduled for Wednesday, April 12, at 2 p.m.
Several recent scientific studies reveal that you can improve brain health, even after age 70. After explaining how memory works, Dr. Lecci will highlight how Alzheimer’s and other dementia-related diseases affect the brain. He’ll focus on three factors that contribute to better brain health: diet, exercise and memory function monitoring. He’ll update guests on the latest treatments and early warning signs.
Dr. Lecci is director of clinic services for MARS Memory Health Network and a professor of psychology at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington, specializing in the assessment of memory and clinical disorders. Dr. Lecci has published extensively in the top journals in psychology and medicine, received grant funding from the National Science Foundation and Alzheimer's North Carolina and briefed congress.
