Montessori Preschool Fun!

Coloring a heart! This is a picture of a little girl who is 2.8 years old. (2 years, 8 months) She spend over 40 minutes coloring this heart. This paper is out on a shelf and available to any child. Crayons are in little drawers, with each containing the regular 8 colors of red, blue, yellow, green, orange, purple, black and brown. These little drawers of crayons are available to any child. She got her mat out, put her name card on her mat, went to the shelf and got her heart, went to get a little drawer of crayons, got a lap board and settled in to coloring her heart. Notice that I, as her teacher, had nothing to do in her gathering and organizing, or in her choice of work. What I did do was have all of this out and available to her and allowed her the freedom to work until she was done. She was really proud of her work and gave it to mommy after school. MCHLG.com
