1 Dead In Livermore House Fire

The fire burned early Friday morning. A dog was also killed in the blaze.

LIVERMORE, CA — One male died Friday morning in a Livermore house fire.

The Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department battled were called around 5:10 a.m. to the scene of a house fire reported in the 2400 block of Westminster Way, according to smartphone app PulsePoint. The fire caused significant damage to the home and is believed to have caused some $400,000 in damages.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire in the garage that had crept into the home, the fire department said in a news release. They began to search the home, found the man, took him outside and began unsuccessful attempts to save his life.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and a dog found inside was also found dead, firefighters said.

Firefighters stopped the flames in a half-hour.

Firefighters and Livermore Police Department personnel will remain on the scene into Friday afternoon as they seek to determine the fire's cause.
