87mph, 80mph Among Top Wind Gusts Recorded In Bay Area: LIST

BAY AREA, CA — Wild winds on Sunday wreaked havoc around the Bay Area, toppling trees and telephone poles and knocking out power for tens of thousands of people across the region.

More than 60,000 PG&E customers were affected by Sunday's wind-induced outages — not to mention the many others whose days were disrupted by highway delays, ferry cancellations and window panes falling from a San Francisco skyscraper.

Mercifully, things have settled down Monday, with top wind gusts expected to remain below 40 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service.
