Beloved Tri-Valley Food Store Closing After 48 Years
The pandemic complicated the retiring owner's efforts to find a new buyer.

LIVERMORE, CA — Van's Health Foods is closing after 48 years of service to the East Bay.
The health food store at 2148 First St. has provided residents of Tri-Valley and beyond with natural and organic groceries, snacks and personal care items. Craig Van Der Kamp will retire after purchasing the store 43 years ago, he said on Facebook.
He was unable to find a buyer for the store due to the pandemic.

His announcement was met with an outpouring of support from dedicated shoppers near and far.
"It has been a pleasure and an honor to serve this community," he said. "Thank you all for the long run you’ve given us."
