LIVERMORE, CA — Livermore is mourning the loss of one of its vintners who was also a longtime resident. Tom Heineman passed away Nov. 5. He was 77.

Together they founded Bent Creek Vineyard in Livermore, and in 2002 opened the popular Bent Creek Winery with friends Carol and Rich Howell.

He taught at both Marilyn Avenue Elementary and the old Rincon Avenue Elementary; he also served as an administrator for the district. He was selected as the LVJUSD's coordinator of the Instructional Resources Center and later the director of Curriculum and Instructional Resources.
