Car Crash Near I-580 Sparks Brush Fire: WATCH
A van crashed into a power pole, igniting a fire in nearby vegetation. See video of firefighting efforts.

ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA — A car crash late Wednesday afternoon sparked a vegetation fire near Interstate 580.
A van hit a power pole on Corral Road — about a mile from I-580 toward Tracy — and sparked a brush fire that was ultimately contained at 1.5 acres, according to the Alameda County Fire Department.
There were no injuries reported in the incident.

Firefighters determined the power lines were live and running across the road and barbed wire fence, prompting crews to shut down the road in both directions, according to Alameda County Fire.
Firefighting efforts began when the Pacific Gas & Electric Co. arrived to disconnect the lines. Crews from Cal Fire and fire departments from Tracy and Camp Parks assisted in the effort.
