The Chabot College men’s and women’s basketball teams continued their sterling starts to the season this past week.
Chabot’s women’s team improved to 6-0 with commanding wins over Laney, 92-38, Cabrillo, 75-43, and Santa Rosa Junior College, 91-65.
Adorah Buggs came off the bench to notch game highs in points (28) and rebounds (8) against Santa Rosa on Saturday in Hayward. Buggs also had five steals and three assists and was 12 of 22 from the field. Nyah Willis scored 24 points, going 8 for 9 from the free-throw line, and had six rebounds. Kayla Taahafe had 10 points, eight steals and seven assists.

Against Cabrillo, Willis and Buggs both had 16 points and Buggs had 14 off the bench.
In the rout of Laney on Nov. 13, Mikee Lopez put on a show scoring 29 points off the bench. Buggs had a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

CHABOT MEN
The Gladiators (4-0) moved up to No. 17 in the state CCCMBC poll this week, fresh off a 90-71 win over Hartnell on Nov. 12. Of course, Chabot opened the season in rousing style winning the championship of the Gladiator Classic.
Five Gladiators scored in double figures against Hartnell led by Akili Daniels with 18 points and Jabari Sweet with 17 points to go with eight rebounds.
Izayah Talmadge had 12 points and Kyle Brown had 10. Skylar Robinson provided a burst off the bench with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Daniels leads the balanced Chabot offense averaging 15.0 points a game and Talmadge (14.8) and Sweet (14.5) are close behind.
Sweet is almost averaging a double-double, also with 9.3 rebounds a game. Talmadge is averaging 7.8 rebounds a game and Daniels is at 7.5 rebounds a game.
