Don't Miss Livermore's 'Spring Splash' & Rubber Ducky Derby

A fun time for the family, and the community is invited! Decorate a rubber duck and enter the competition. Other events planned, too!

LIVERMORE, CA – Splash into spring this weekend with a rubber-duck derby, a synchronized-swim performance and a goodie hunt for children at the Robert Livermore Aquatic Center on April 21.

The community -- residents and non-residents, too -- are invited, courtesy of the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District, to the second Spring Splash event, on Saturday, April 21, with this year's new addition: a Rubber Ducky Derby!

Kids (and adults!) can decorate a rubber duck, which will then be put in a race down the spiral water slide. Owner of the winning duck will receive an LARPD pool party package. Spring Splash will also feature a hunt in and around the activity pool for spring-themed goodies.

The event is from noon to 2 p.m. at the Robert Livermore Aquatic Center, 4448 Loyola Way in Livermore.

A special synchronized-swimming demonstration will also be part of the fun, put on by the Santa Clara Aquamaids. The Aquamaids have produced world-class synchronized swimmers and Olympic athletes since 1964, according to parks officials.

The synchronized-swim event ties into this summer's local activities, as the rec department is offering a new Introduction to Synchronized Swimming class led by Kim Lo Porto, who competed in the 2000 Summer Olympics. Classes, for ages 5 to 10, will be Sundays over three four-week sessions from 10 a.m. to noon beginning June 10.

Tickets for Spring Splash purchased before April 19 are $7 for residents and $10 for non-residents. Tickets purchased at the gate the day of the event will be $12 for residents and $15 for non-residents. There is no charge for adults who are not participating.
