LIVERMORE, CA — A driver was killed early Sunday morning in a multiple-car crash that involved a car driving the wrong way on eastbound Interstate Highway 580 in Livermore, the California Highway Patrol said.

The crash occurred at 6:20 a.m. It initially shut down all lanes of I-580 and blocked the North Livermore on-ramp. The lanes on 580 had reopened later Sunday morning.

Traffic remained slow later Sunday morning. The CHP advises drivers avoid the scene by taking exit 84 to Stanley Boulevard, then North First Street to return to I-580.
