A remarkable season for the Granada High baseball team came to a sudden halt on Wednesday when the Matadors lost to Amador Valley 9-7 in the North Coast Section semifinals.
Granada trailed 9-1 in the sixth inning when they began to chip away at the deficit with three runs in the sixth and seventh, but the comeback fell short.
Amador Valley's Nick Carney hit a grand slam in the fourth inning to highlight a five-run inning to put the Dons up 7-1.
It was the first time this season Granada had given up more than four runs in a game.
The Matadors end the season with a 24-2 record.
