Patch: If you had to sum up your business mission to a stranger in five words, what would those words be?

Haley: Aggressive, experienced, ethical, focused, results

Patch: What’s the biggest challenge or most difficult moment you’ve faced in your job?

Haley: We pride ourselves on having close relationships with our clients and respectful relationships with opposing counsel and our judges. These relationships were fostered by over 50 years of personal interactions. With the advent of modern technology, communication is much more impersonal. For example, in the past we went to the courthouse for all of our hearings and met our judges and counsel. Today, most appearances are done by phone or court link. While we welcome the tremendous benefits and efficiencies technology has provided us, we continue to try and develop close personal relationships. We don’t view our clients as clients — we are their partners.

Patch: What’s the most satisfying part of your job?

Haley: We love being in court and working hard to obtain great results for our clients.

Patch: How would you say your business or organization distinguishes itself from the others?

Haley: We are an established and well-respected family-owned business and we treat our clients like family. Developing interpersonal and empathetic relationships with our clients is crucial for client relations considering their traumatic experiences in personal injury cases.

Patch: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given when it comes to success?

Haley: You only have one reputation. Make sure you protect it.

Patch: Are there any new projects or endeavors you’re working on that you’re extra excited about?

Haley: Every new case is an interesting new project. Whether it is a personal injury or wrongful death matter, civil rights, medical negligence or will and trust litigation, each one is different and challenging.

Patch: Do you have any events coming up in your community?

Haley: I frequently teach other attorneys. Once a year I moderate a panel in Civil Litigation with judges from both Alameda and Contra Costa counties. We are deeply involved in our community. I serve on the Board of Trustees of De La Salle High School and Saint Vincent's Day Home. We provide ongoing support for Alameda Food Bank, Oakland Fire Fighter Sports Association, Putnam Clubhouse for Adults, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, Special Olympics of Northern California and the Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation.
