Juneteenth 2020 Events In Tri-Valley
See what's planned this weekend in celebration of the end of slavery in America.
TRI-VALLEY, CA — Juneteenth — or Friday, June 19 this year — is a day that celebrates the end of slavery in the United States.
Events are planned throughout the East Bay and here in Tri-Valley. Here's how you can celebrate Juneteenth this year:
Faith & Solidarity Ride
St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church (1315 Lomitas Ave., Livermore) is organizing a Juneteenth bike ride to "promote physical, mental and spiritual health as we journey ahead in solidarity with our black communities," the church wrote in an event posting.

The bike ride begins at 9:45 a.m. Participants may alternatively walk a 1.5-mile route.
Participants begin and end in the St. Charles Borromeo parking lot, and are invited to decorate their gear or make a sign.

Tri-Valley Haven Display
Tri-Valley Haven invites people to stop by its Community Building (3663 Pacific Ave., Livermore) and drop off an item or description that shows others what they love about diversity and what they commit to do to fight racism after the protests end, the organization said.
A Juneteenth banner will stand alongside the community display for the remainder of the month.
CHP/Alameda Co. Sheriff's Office Virtual Event
The California Highway Patrol's Dublin chapter and Alameda County Sheriff's Office are organizing a 2 p.m. Facebook Live event Friday. CHP and the Alameda County Sheriff's Office will celebrate African American history and introduce local officers and deputies.

Defend Black Lives Event
Demonstrators will start gathering 6 a.m. Saturday for an event at Santa Rita Jail (5325 Broder Blvd., Dublin), as ABC7 reported.
