Junior Golf Program Fundraiser
Tournament to raise funds for the Las Positas Junior Golf program on Sat. May 14 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Prizes for every foursome
The Las Positas Athletic Commitment to Excellence (ACE) Junior Golf Academy at Las Positas Golf Course in Livermore, California will hold a fundraising event on Saturday, May 14, 2016 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The tournament begins at 8 a.m. with a shotgun tournament. There will be prizes for every foursome. All proceeds from the event go toward the Junior program, which has been in existence since 1971 and has taught over 11,000 youth to play golf.
Children and teens ranging in age from five to 17 and representing all skill levels are eligible to participate in the program. The program teaches youth to play golf at a highly advanced level under the direction of golf professionals. Jeff DeBenedetti, a PGA professional and director of golf at Las Positas heads the program.
“We have programs to match any young golfer,” says Jeff DeBenedetti. “Our junior golf program is not a turnstile program. Along with teaching them golf skills, we provide life skills as well.”

Youth who have participated in the program have gone on to play golf in college, or be on the PGA and LPGA Tours. Many are PGA and LPGA members. Many Las Positas Junior Golf alumni attend colleges and universities on golf scholarships at schools that include UCLA, Stanford, Columbia University, Pomona College, Auburn University, University of San Francisco, San Jose State, California State University Chico, and more.
Kirabo Reed of Liberty High School in Brentwood is a Junior Golf student who has recently received a college scholarship. He will be attending Alabama State University this coming fall on a golf scholarship.
