Davison, a transfer from Mesa Community College (Arizona), missed time early in the season with a broken finger, but his performance against Hartnell was a big positive for the team. Las Positas notched another James Clark Classic title in nonconference action, with wins over Feather River, Merced and Reedley. Hayes led the way with 29 points and 15 rebounds against Reedley in the championship game.

Hayes also had a monster game with 42 points and 11 rebounds in a heartbreaking overtime loss to Butte on Dec. 20 in a makeup game in Livermore.

Hayes, an all-NorCal State selection last season out of West High-Tracy, is ranked No. 2 in the state in rebounds per game at 11.1. He's ninth in scoring at 21.1 ppg. The Hawks received strong play off the bench against Hartnell from Isaiah Abdul and Matt Roseby, each with 10 points.

The Hawks will enter the Coast-North season in a four-team bunch behind unbeaten CCSF (14-0), along with Chabot (9-5) and Foothill (9-5) and Skyline (7-6).

Last season, the Hawks set a school record with nine wins in the Coast-North. They also tied for No. 2 in program history with 21 total wins and finished ranked in the state's top 15 again.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Hawks star Bianca Camello, a 5-foot-7 freshman guard out of Salesian College Prep, leads the team into Coast-North play.

Camello continued to take college play by storm with 26 points in a loss to visiting Redwoods on Jan. 4, including going 12 of 14 from the free throw line and 7 of 19 from the floor, along with six rebounds and four assists. Camello is ranked No. 4 in the state in scoring at 24.4 points a game.

The Hawks' Sahana Samra added 14 points and Melanie Heigold had 10 points against Redwoods. The thin Las Positas squad had just one substitute in the game.
