Last Chance To See 'Wings of Freedom' Tour At Livermore Airport
Visitors can walk through the restored interiors of two World War II aircraft and view several more for the $15 admission price.
LIVERMORE, CA — Bay Area airplane buffs can get a close-up look at the B-17 Flying Fortress and other World War II bombers at the Livermore Municipal Airport, but Tuesday is the last opportunity. The Flying Fortress, the B-24 Liberator and other wartime aircraft were on display Sunday and Monday, and Tuesday is the last chance to see the Wings of Freedom tour. The Flying Fortress is one of only 10 of more than 12,500 remaining in flying condition built to fight overseas in World War II.
Visitors can walk through the restored interiors of two World War II aircraft and view several more for the $15 admission price. Airplane buffs with deep pockets can even take a brief flight - though the price is as steep at the climb at $400 to $2,500. The event is sponsored by the Collings Foundation, a nonprofit educational foundation that supports living history events through participation.
