Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority Honored
The national recognition came from the American Public Transportation Association.
LAVTA was presented with an AdWheel Grand Award by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) at the annual TRANSform Conference being held this week in New York City. The annual AdWheel Awards competition recognizes the best marketing and communications efforts by transit systems throughout North America. LAVTA was recognized for its partnership with Las Positas College in promoting student ridership and the passage of a student mobility initiative to provide a sustainable funding source for the program. The LAVTA Marketing team consists of Tony McCaulay, Director of Planning and Marketing and Christy Navarro, Marketing and Communications Specialist. The pair are responsible for all creative, design, copywriting and public outreach activities at the agency. Both started working at LAVTA in 2017. Before coming to LAVTA, McCaulay was the head of marketing for the Regional Transportation District in Denver and Navarro was a marketing specialist with Summit Financial Group in San Ramon. Also recognized this month was Jonathan Steketee, LAVTA’s Customer Service & Contract Compliance Manager. Steketee was recognized by Mass Transit magazine as one of the nation’s top “40 Under 40”. Each year, the magazine recognizes outstanding young individuals making a name in the public transit industry. Jonathan joined the LAVTA staff in 2018 and oversees the operations contracts for the agency’s fixed route and ADA paratransit services, along with managing a staff of five who oversee customer service, fleet management and IT. He also manages LAVTA’s shared autonomous vehicle (SAV) demonstration project and the Go Dublin! Program.
