Livermore Opens Cooling Center As Heat Wave Arrives

The cooling center will be open during the hottest hours of the day, through the weekend.

LIVERMORE, CA — The Robert Livermore Community Center will open as a cooling center Wednesday through Sunday.

The center at 4444 East Ave. will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The city said it will monitor National Weather Service reports and extend the cooling center opening if needed.

Guests must wear masks and maintain social distancing, and capacity will be limited. Bottled water and face masks will be available.

The city asks people to call 911 if they see someone who appears to be having a severe reaction to the hot weather and check in on older or vulnerable adults or neighbors without air conditioning.
