Livermore Public Library To Host Early Development Child Classes
The free classes will feature learning skills for young children through the use of music, stories and playtime to help encourage learning.
LIVERMORE, CA — The Livermore Public Library is offering a series of free, early childhood classes for area residents which open up a window of opportunity for local youngsters covering an array of topics.
Sessions will begin June 1 and run through Aug. 14 at the Civic Center Library, which is located at 1188 S. Livermore Ave. The classes will be held in an outdoor, socially distanced environment where children and caregivers will be able to enjoy stories and activities. Each of the activities is designed to develop early learning skills and practices and will cover subjects such as literacy, science and math through music, stories and play as children prepare for school.
Masks will be required for children over the age of 2 and while the classes are free, registration is required for some of the sessions, library officials said. Classes will be held weather-permitting.

Sing and Learn Babies

Babies up to 12 months old and their caregivers will enjoy songs, action rhymes, and playtime, and share a book together in each session. The class provides babies with the opportunity to hear language and encourages young families to get to know one another. Sing and Learn Babies will be held on the lawn near the storytime room. Participants are asked to bring their own blanket. No registration os required. The classes will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday and Thursday, but the classes are the same and participants are asked to attend only one session per week.
Music and Movement
Registration is required before coming to the library for class as space is limited. Participants will enjoy songs and movement activities that build motor and social skills, and increase independence as well as language development in young children. The class is designed for children ages 1-5, but everyone is welcome. The class will be held on the patio in front of the library’s main doors. Registration is required before coming to the class. Interested participants should call (925) 373-5505 to sign up. Classes are held at 10 and 11 a.m. own Monday and Wednesday and at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Each class is the same and participants are asked to attend only once a week.
Cuentos y Canciones
The library invites We the whole family to enjoy stories, songs, and movement that support early literacy skills and help children develop a love of books and learning in Spanish. No registration required. Classes are held at 6 p.m. on Monday throughout the summer.
