Local Love Stories: Lucky Penny Leads To True Love
"We both decided to throw a penny into the pond and make a wish. My wish was to meet my future husband."

In honor of Valentine’s Day, we asked Patch readers to share their love stories.
Whether you’re a fan of Valentine’s Day or the thought of red and pink decorations makes you want to puke, we’ve got a hunch everyone could use some happy news this month. And what’s happier than a love story?
We asked Patch readers on Facebook to share their local love stories — how they met, where it all went down, and what’s kept them together. Here's the story of a Livermore local who met her current husband in Portland, after wishing for true love upon throwing a penny in a pond.

I had broken up with yet another boyfriend and was beginning to think I'd never find my one true love. One afternoon, a friend suggested eating lunch in a small business park he knew of. We grabbed some sandwiches and headed over to the small business park, which consisted of maybe four small offices surrounding a pond and gazebo. My friend and I ate lunch in the gazebo, and then we both decided to throw a penny into the pond and make a wish. My wish was to meet my future husband.
The small park was in a suburb of Portland, about 40 minutes outside of Portland and nowhere near the city's downtown.

I went out that night in downtown Portland (a city of over 500,000 people) with a group of friends and met Ron. We started talking, and we really hit it off. A few hours into the evening, I asked where he worked. He worked in one of the offices that surrounded that small business park.
We got married 2 years and 12 days after we met, on Feb. 12. We've been married 17 years this month.
