LIVERMORE, CA — The Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District distributed 300 holiday meal kits to families for Thanksgiving break.

The meal kits contained more than 30 pounds of groceries such as fruits, veggies, dairy pasta and protein, and were distributed Monday by Future Farmers of America students and district employees, LVJUSD said in a news release.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, LVJUSD has distributed more than 320,000 free meals — including breakfast, lunch, dinner and a snack — at eight pick-up locations. All Livermore youth ages 18 and younger are eligible, according to the district.

"The holiday meal kits were designed to bridge the gap in meal service while school is not in session,” said Dana Dodge, child nutrition director, in the news release.

Families can request Christmas break meal kits beginning Dec. 10 by visiting one of these locations from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. weekdays.
