'My Mama, My Hero And My Very Best Friend': Mother's Day Photos

LIVERMORE, CA — Whether it's through their personality, looks, hobbies or a combination of everything, daughters become a reflection of the woman who raised them. With Mother's Day 2018 right around the corner, we are celebrating that special bond by inviting Patch readers across California to share their "mother-daughter lookalike" photos.

Livermore resident Jenn Casado sent us this sweet photo of her with her mom, Shirley Darbee.

"People always said my mom & I were abnormally close. She’d wake up at 5 a.m. to speak to me on my way to work every single day due to a long commute (even after she retired). We are both caring, giving, strong, independent, music lovers that loved to binge watch TV, funny and short. She was a warrior; she passed away in March 2011 after losing her 4th battle with cancer over a 10 year period. She’s my mama, my hero and my very best friend."
