Showers Forecast This Weekend In Tri-Valley

Officials forecast cooler temps and light showers this weekend, with more rain possibly coming next week.

TRI-VALLEY, CA — The National Weather Service forecasts light showers this weekend after an exceptionally dry winter in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The Bay Area saw some showers last weekend, too, and this weekend could be more of the same, with an approaching cold front expected to bring damp weather and temperatures in the 50s, according to the forecast. Colder temps were expected to arrive in the North Bay Friday evening and move south toward the Monterey Bay by Saturday morning, with showers arriving in the North Bay Saturday morning and hitting the Monterey Bay by Saturday afternoon.

Rainfall will be "a welcomed sight" given the lack of rain in the past month — even though officials don't expect much precipitation, NWS wrote.

"This cold front has been well advertised for several days now with the idea of ending the Bay Area dry streak," NWS wrote.

Saturday night and Sunday morning are expected to be even chillier, with patchy frost possible and temperatures in the 30s in inland valleys.

Rain is again possible Sunday evening through early Wednesday, with a storm system expected to return March 10, NWS wrote. Another storm system may even arrive next weekend, but it's too soon to tell.

"All in all no March Miracle in sight, but any rain at this point will be welcomed," NWS wrote.
