Six Las Positas Basketball Players Earn All-State Academic

The success formula for the Las Positas College men’s basketball team is not limited to wins on the court.

It also includes academic excellence, as evidenced by the fact that six Hawks players made the 2019-20 California Community College Men’s Basketball Coaches Association (CCCMBCA) All-Academic State team. Among the 40 student-athletes on the squad were the following Hawks: Lee Jones Jr., Fr; Andrew Mork, So; Tyler Langowski, So; Nikolas Echalas, Fr; Evan Gosal, Fr; and Matthew Roseby. Fr.

Las Positas and Modesto Junior College were co-state leaders with six all-academic players apiece.

Of the achievement, Las Positas head coach James Giacomazzi tweeted, “proud of our guys … glad these student-athletes get recognition for their academic achievement. Great representatives of LPC.”

Honorees must have completed at least one season of competition with a minimum of 24 units accumulated from the beginning of their first season of competition. Also, a player must have earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher in those units.

The Hawks finished second last season in the Coast Conference-North Division.
