Sunset Scraps Multi-Family Home Idea for Office Plaza

Sunset Development Company will focus on replacing the Plaza with single-family homes, the Contra Costa Times reports.

Sunset Development Company wanted to tear down the Sunset Office Plaza and replace it with either townhouses, apartments or single-family homes.

After a heated meeting with the community at Sunset Elementary School last week, Sunset Development still plans to tear down the plaza but having apartments or townhouses take its place now seems off the table, the Contra Costa Times reported last week.

The Plaza, located at Concannon Boulevard and Holmes Street, is about 75,000 square feet and is currently office space.

Any plan that's going to inflame the neighborhood is just a bad decision ... The office park) is going to change ... I'd like to keep working with the neighbors and get something closer to what they'd support.

Sunset will now focus on the possibility of replacing the office park with single-family homes and report back to community with a plan in several weeks, the Times said.
