Tri-Valley Hit With Wind Advisory Wednesday
Find out how strong winds are expected to be and see a map of affected areas. Much of the Bay Area will be under the advisory.
EAST BAY, CA — Much of the East Bay, including the Tri-Valley, will be under a wind advisory for most of Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
Large swaths of the Bay Area are under the advisory from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday. The strongest winds are expected to be at higher elevations and possibly into the East Bay valleys.
NWS officials warn that people with high-profile vehicles or vehicles pulling trailers may have difficulty driving in the wind. Residents of affected areas should secure objects. Power outages may follow if tree limbs are knocked down.

Here's how strong the winds are expected to be:
- Mountains and hills: 15 to 30 mph winds; gusts of 40 to 50 mph (higher gusts in some areas are possible)
- East Bay valleys: 10 to 20 mph winds; gusts of 30 to 40 mph
- Santa Cruz Mountains: 15 to 25 mph winds; gusts of 20 to 45 mph possible
