LIVERMORE, CA — Officers with the California Highway Patrol Dublin office and Livermore Police Department will run through the streets of downtown Livermore Monday to raise money for Special Olympics Northern California's Law Enforcement Torch Run.

Officers run from team to team carrying the "Flame of Hope" torch, which is symbolic of the celebration of diversity. The annual event draws about 1,000 officers each year and began in 1996.

Special Olympics Northern California serves some 26,000 athletes, and works with more than 600 schools and nearly 137,000 students.
