Welcome to Pride Rock!

Simba brings some fun to Livermore

Remember who you are … Pride Rock has come to Livermore. The classic story of Simba finding his way as King of the Pride Lands comes to the Winding Stream Drive neighborhood in Livermore. The neighborhood has dressed up for the occasion, promoting Halloween excitement for families of the Tri-Valley for 19 years. John Staton decided to build a “Wolfs Head” on his home in 1999 and since then the annual Halloween displays have become a Livermore magnet for families and friends to enjoy a safe Halloween night.

Staton and his crew of “slobbery, mangy stupid poachers” have been working for the past few weeks on this year’s Halloween creation. Trick or treaters will behold Pride Rock with Rafiki presenting baby Simba to the crowd below, while Scar (his Uncle) will brood in the shadows of pride rock surrounded by lightening. Guests to the house may agree with Zazu, “There is one in every family!” Between the hours of 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm the display will include a live performance by Cheza Nami, A Taste of Africa. Join Simba, Timon, Pumba and the gang in the fun!

Attendance at the Winding Stream and surrounding neighborhood has grown over the years, prompting the street residents to get a permit from the City of Livermore to close the street to traffic for safety reasons. Although Staton started the trend, many of the houses on Winding Stream Drive decorate up big during the Halloween season with other themes and are prepared to empty multiple bags of candy to approximately 1,000 guests. The neighborhood has become an annual community event for Livermore residents and friends across Alameda, Santa Clara and Contra Costa County.
