Wet Weekend? Tri-Valley Could See Rain After A Chilly Week

Weather is expected to remain cool and dry until Sunday afternoon, when a weather system comes south from the Pacific Northwest.

TRI-VALLEY, CA — The East Bay might see rain on Sunday afternoon and evening, as a weather system heads south from the Pacific Northwest, National Weather Service officials say. Conditions are expected to remain chilly and dry until then, with some parts of the region bracing for temperatures in the upper 20s and the possibility of freezing fog.

The center of the weather system is expected to move just off of the coastline and officials believe rain will quickly spread across the Bay Area in a southeastward direction, NWS wrote in a Friday forecast. Thunderstorms are possible, especially near the coast. Snow could fall on the region's highest mountaintops and ridges, according to NWS.

Skies should be clear by Monday morning as the system quickly continues to move southeastward, NWS predicts.
