2nd Music Teacher Victim + DUI Check Tickets + Beach Report Card

Up and at 'em, Long Beach! Let's get you started on this Thursday with everything you need to know going on today.

We have two follow-ups to talk about. There is a second victim in the case against the in-home music teacher, who was arrested in May. Also, in spite of my warnings, some of you went through the DUI checkpoint and got tickets. Finally, the Beach Report Card is out!

First, today's weather: Partly cloudy throughout the day. High: 78 Low: 63.

Here are the top stories in Long Beach today:

1. Follow-up: Remember when we told you about the in-home music teacher who was arrested on suspicion of a “lewd act with a minor?” The LB PD found a second victim. (LB PD)
2. Follow-up: We warned you! There was a DUI checkpoint Friday night, and the police counted 1,750 vehicles, screened 352 drivers, ticketed 4 for driving without a license, and 7 for driving unsafe. (LB Post)
3. Heal the Bay released its annual Beach Report Card. The results show that you have to stay out of the water when it rains. The west side of the Belmont Pier scored a C in the summer and an A in the winter. City Beach at Prospect Avenue gets a B in summer and C in winter. The other LB beaches are looking good! 4. The Sierra Club's Los Cerritos Wetlands Task Force urged the CA Coastal Commission to deny public access to Oil Dock Road during the Big Bang on the Bay fireworks spectacular on Saturday. The group fears for the safety of hatchlings. (LBReport.com)
5. Long Beach is generous —pandemic or not. Charitable giving in the city rose through the 2020 pandemic. (Long Beach Press Telegram)
