With the use of essential oils in households growing in popularity, did you ever stop and wonder if these calming smells are soothing for your fur baby? Sadly, while these oils have many benefits for humans that is not the case for our furry friends. Essential oils have been proven to be dangerous to dogs and cats, especially in its 100 percent concentrated form. With the growth of these oils and the use of diffusers, which blow these oils into the air, our pets are at risk of exposure. While some of the oils are considered more dangerous than others it is always smart to ask your veterinarian before using or continued use of the product.
While direct contact with the essential oils isn't always necessary for danger, that is when most pets are often poisoned. If you are going to use an essential oil diffuser around an animal make sure to only use it for short periods of time and to keep it out of snout reach.
Some symptoms to watch out for if you think your pet may have come into contact with any essential oils may include but not be limited to the following: The smell of essential oils on the fur, skin, breath or vomit, vomiting, diarrhea, weakness and muscle tremors.
