LONG BEACH, CA — A big rig hauling coal overturned Saturday morning on southbound Interstate 710 in Long Beach, shutting down multiple lanes and causing ongoing delays, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident was first reported at 11:13 a.m., with a load of coal reportedly scattered across the roadway, preliminary CHP logs showed.
A severe traffic alert was issued, with three lanes initially closed. Two lanes have since reopened, but the number three lane was expected to remain blocked into the afternoon.
