A 24-year-old woman was killed early today when her car slammed into an unoccupied big rig stopped on the shoulder of the Long Beach (710) Freeway.
The crash happened about 2:35 a.m. on the northbound side of the freeway, just south of Del Amo Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The victim, a resident of Long Beach, was at the wheel of a 2008 Honda that veered onto the right shoulder and struck the left rear of a 2013 tractor- trailer combo, the CHP reported.
The woman, whose name was withheld pending notification of her family, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two vehicles, including a big rig, collided on the Long Beach (710) Freeway today, killing one person, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The collision occurred on the northbound 710 near West Del Amo Boulevard in Long Beach at 2:33 a.m., according to the CHP. It resulted in a vehicle ending up wedged under the big rig.
There were no immediate reports of other injuries. No information was immediately released on the person who was killed.
