Chase Begins In Compton, Ends With Crash In Long Beach

Deputies attempted to pull over a suspected DUI driver, but the driver fled.

LONG BEACH, CA – Two people were arrested and one was sought by sheriff's deputies Wednesday evening following a chase that ended with a crash in Long Beach.

The chase began in Compton when deputies attempted to pull over a suspected DUI driver, but the driver fled along surface streets and at least one freeway, before crashing into a curb and a parked car at 59th Street and Myrtle Avenue shortly after 10 p.m., according to Deputy Marvin Crowder of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Following the crash, three people exited the vehicle. Two were quickly captured and a third was being sought, Crowder said.

During the pursuit, a gun was tossed from the vehicle, which deputies recovered, Crowder said.

It was unclear where and what time the pursuit began.
