  • “The Long Beach Public Library was established 125 years ago and has a long history of adapting to meet our community’s needs,” said Long Beach Public Library Director Glenda Williams. “We want to hear from all library patrons, even those who are not currently using our libraries, to help us plan for the future to ensure that everyone feels welcome and invested in visiting their neighborhood library.”

The LBPL’s collection currently includes more than 800,000 items, and features print materials, recordings, DVDs, ebooks, downloadable audiobooks, streaming movies and music, and Chromebooks and wireless hotspots available for checkout. The digital library includes resources for language learning, homework and job assistance, vocational and tech classes, hobbies, genealogy and news.

The idea to conduct a community survey first originated from a request at a Long Beach City Council meeting to study library hours.
