Coroner IDs Driver Killed In Friday Crash In Long Beach
The 18-year-old struck the center divider on Center Avenue and a tree, police said.
LONG BEACH, CA — Authorities Monday identified an 18-year-old Paramount man who was killed when the car he was driving crashed in Long Beach.
Favian Esquivias died at the scene of the single-vehicle crash about 6:30 p.m. Friday at Cherry Avenue and 45th Street, according to the coroner's office and the Long Beach Police Department.
According to police, Esquivias was driving a 2002 Subaru WRX south on Cherry Avenue when he lost control of the vehicle, struck the center divider and went into the northbound lanes, eventually crashing into a tree, police said.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
