LONG BEACH, CA — Hotel Maya managers in Long Beach enlisted the help of the Easter Bunny over the weekend to hand out goodie bags stuffed with pantry staples and treats to more than 50 employees— those working, furloughed or laid off due to coronavirus mandates.

“Everyone has been hit hard by the Covid-19 virus and it was important to us to reach out to our employees during the holiday to further lend our support,” said Greg Guthrie, general manager of the waterfront, DoubleTree property on Queensway Drive.

A drive thru was set up Saturday for the employees, who received the Easter bags that included rice, beans, pasta, pancake mix, dried fruits, cereal, granola bars, coffee and candy, along with sunglasses, a beach ball and two rolls of toilet paper.
