Good morning, neighbors! It's me again, Sylvia Cochran, your host of the Long Beach Daily. Here's what's happening today in town.

Saying “I do” is getting more expensive. Demand is up, supply is down, and folks are done waiting. Also, first responders had their hands full with shootings. Finally, a person fired a shot at people in another car in a road rage incident. Here’s a pro-tip: Shooting people won’t make traffic move faster.

Here are the top stories today in Long Beach:

  1. Getting married is getting more expensive. LB wedding vendors are increasing their prices as the numbers of venues have decreased, supply chain issues plague several industries, and chicken prices are soaring. Even so, “phones have been ringing off the hook.” (LB Business Journal)
  2. Some Independence Day celebrations ended with gunfire. At this point, there are reports of shootings on the 200 block of East 7th Street and South 1St Place and East Ocean Blvd. (LBReport.com)
  3. An early-morning road rage incident took place in the Bixby Knolls neighborhood, at Orange Avenue and Del Amo Blvd. Nobody was hurt. (LB Post)
  4. OCISLY, short for Of Course I Still Love You, is an autonomous spaceport drone-ship built for SpaceX. As of right now, it’s heading to the Port of LB and self-reports an arrival today. (@SpaceXFleet)
