A driver allegedly fell asleep at the wheel.

An East Long Beach intersection became flooded when a driver struck a fire hydrant Saturday night, a police sergeant said.
The accident occurred at about 11:35 p.m. Saturday at Spring Street and Bellflower Boulevard, said Long Beach police Sgt. Aaron Eaton.
"The driver did not sustain any injuries and their vehicle was towed from the scene,'' Eaton said.
A video photographer at the scene said a pick-up truck struck the hydrant, coming to a stop about 50 yards beyond the point of impact. He added that a family friend of the woman driver explained she fell asleep and lost control of her truck.
