Long Beach Fire Chief Mike DuRee Named President of California Fire Chiefs Association

Today, Long Beach Fire Chief Mike DuRee became President of the California Fire Chiefs Association (CalChiefs). Chief DuRee was selected by other California Fire Chiefs to serve in this prestigious position for a one-year term.

“I want to congratulate Chief DuRee for being elected by his peers for this important leadership role," said Mayor Robert Garcia. “Chief DuRee’s selection highlights his dedication to our community and his commitment to enhance fire service throughout California.”

CalChiefs represents leaders from more than 1,000 fire agencies throughout California, including municipal fire service agencies and fire districts (paid, combination and volunteer), state and federal government agencies, and corporate fire brigades. The professional organization has expertise and is involved in the full spectrum of issues impacting the fire service and EMS delivery, promoting, developing and enhancing public safety at the state and national level.

“I am proud and humbled to be selected as the President of the California Fire Chiefs Association by my peers,” said Chief DuRee. “The fire service in California has always been at the forefront of innovation and strategic planning. I will continue this legacy and work with our partners throughout the state, region, and country to incorporate service delivery models that provide world class service to our communities.”
