Man Fatally Shot In Gumbiner Park; Police Search For Suspect
The man was in the park when an unidentified gunman or gunmen approached him and fired several shots, then fled in an unknown direction.
LONG BEACH, CA - A man who was fatally shot in a Long Beach park Friday just before sunrise was identified Saturday. Richard Winfrey was 50-years-old, according to the coroner's office. His city of residence was unknown.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire around 5:30 a.m. Friday and were dispatched to Gumbiner Park near the 800 block of Seventh Street. There, they found the victim now identified as Winfrey suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body, the Long Beach Police Department reported.
