Man Hit By Train In Long Beach, Suffering Critical Injuries
A man in his 30s fell off a Metro station platform in Long Beach and was hit by a train and trapped underneath a rail car.
LONG BEACH, CA — A man in his 30s was hospitalized in critical condition Saturday morning with injuries he sustained when he fell off a Metro station platform in Long Beach and was hit by a train and trapped underneath a rail car.
It occurred at the Metro station at Pacific Avenue and Fifth Street at 5:30 p.m. Friday, according to the Long Beach Fire Department.
The man was removed from underneath the rail car and taken to a hospital in critical condition, the department said.

He sustained injuries to his upper and lower body, Long Beach Police spokesperson Jennifer De Prez said.
Witnesses tried to flag down police to tell them a man was on the track moments before the victim was struck by the train, she said.

A Line service, formerly the Blue Line, operated with 15 minute delays while an investigation was underway.
