A man was wounded in a shooting Long Beach police believe occurred on East 17th Street in the central part of the city, a police spokeswoman said Sunday.
“At about 10:17 p.m. [Saturday], officers responded to the 1300 block of East 17th Street regarding a shots call,'' said Long Beach police spokeswoman Marlene Arrona. “Officers located evidence a shooting occurred and determined the victim was transported to a local hospital by a friend.''

Police found the victim suffering from what appears to be non-life threatening wounds, at a hospital, Arrona said.
The shooting may be gang-related, she said.
