Man Shot, May Have Been Gang Related

Man hospitalized, in critical condition, after being shot in the lower torso. Conflicting accounts of what led to it.

A man was hospitalized in critical condition today after a Long Beach shooting that may have been gang-related, police said.

The shooting occurred in the 1900 block of Caspian Avenue around 9:45 p.m. Monday, said Long Beach police Lt. Dave Faris. The victim was shot once in the lower torso, he said.

Investigating officers have been given conflicting accounts about the circumstances leading to the shooting, Faris said.
