Mid Summer Scream 2018

The best summer Halloween Festival you'll ever attend!

Thanks to Squigglemom, I was provided with an opportunity to attend my very first MidSummer Scream Festival. I had no idea what to expect--especially at a summer Halloween event. Would people dress up? Will there be live music? Will they hand out candy?!?! The anticipation was eating me alive! Until finally it was time to investigate.

Hall of Shadows

Before you even enter the hall, the presence of fear creeps up your spine. Inside, there's many exhibits and statues a like. Some intended to frighten--and others simply existing for amazement.

Alien Anatomy

This was, by far, the best part of the Festival. There were virtual reality games, live performers, and even a man dancing in a really small box! Further into the Hall, there was a Six Flags mini maze leading to the entrance of the maze room. All the mazes were amazing. Some scarier than others--but they were never dull.

Black Cat Room

When you first hear "Black Cat Room" at a Midsummer Halloween festival--what do you imagine? I imagined a room set up with a bunch of superstitious traps--maybe even an interactive play. I never would have imagined it would be a room full of the most adorable kittens ever!

The whole room was full of spooky kitten furniture and toys. And not only were there black cats, but there were white and grey cats, all grey cats, brown and white cats, and even all white cats! Each group was allowed to play with the kittens freely for about 20 minutes. Near the entrance of the room was a table assigned to help you adopt one or two of the kittens. Yes, not only were they adorable, they were adoptable!

Fallen Saints

Fallen Saints is a play based on the origins of fear. There are no jump scares—just pure terror. The room is a box of infinite darkness. The only thing you have to cling on is your sense of touch--for they could play tricks on your hearing. The actors only provided a 15 minute preview to their show. Fortunately, their entire show will be held in North Hollywood at the Crown City Theatre Company on August 10th, 11th, 17th, 18th, 24th, and the 25th. Showing times will be 8:30pm, 9:30pm, and 10:30pm on the days provided. The entry fee is $15.
