New Store with the Wave Roof Brings 700 Jobs to Long Beach
A mariachi band performed at a grand opening ceremony this morning for Big Saver Foods on Seventh Street.
A newly opened market, which features a preserved 1960s wave roof, is providing nearly 700 jobs in Long Beach, the store's owner said today.

The Vernon-based chain has two other locations at 1313 E. Artesia Blvd. and 1500 W. Willow St.

The grocery stores are owned by India native Uka Solaki, who said the newest store is employing 700 people.
"Seven hundred people means we are helping 700 families," Solaki said.

Other independent grocers have been looking to open in Long Beach, including Anaheim-based Northgate Gonzalez and Sylmar-based Vallarta Supermarkets Inc., according to the Orange County Register.
